Patchwork quilt of great traditions
Bringing justice, comfort, peace,
Spirit-filled, embracing people,
Changing torment to release.
Prisoners freed, with shackles falling,
Children learn and laugh and play
Spirit-fire and holy water
Urging us to praise and pray.

In the fires of great redemption
There will be no fearful night!
God will bathe us in its brightness:
Resurrection holy light!
Every evil will be stopped now-
With no darkness, there’s no fear.
Burning prayers of faithful people
Bring the Holy ever near.

Everlasting Alleluias
Wash the world in waves today
And baptismal blessings shining
In the words we join to pray.
The Creator, still creating
Uses fire and water too
In the circle of our making
Ever changing, ever new.
