From Dan to Beersheba rose an uproar of sorts,
An Israelite had been wronged by former cohorts.
When the guilty were called to be put on trial,
There were those who chose to protect even the vile.

The Israelites knew now of vengeance to be done,
They sought out their foes with a battle to be won.
They prayed solely for aid but contend as they might,
The enemy was able and feared no such plight.

Their battles were disputed with little success,
The Israelites had doubts they would ever progress.
But the Lord came forth to answer their fearful plea,
Now an upset had come under holy decree.

The assault for Israel was not fought in vain,
Not only the guilty but all foes had been slain.
They paid dearly for the vulgar crimes they had wrought,
For those who flee from justice damnation is brought.
