No comfort comes for those oppressed,
And tears stream down each face.
The victor wields unyielding pow’ r
As death’s cold shadows race.

The dead and gone are better off
Than these who live in vain.
But better still are the unborn
Who never face such pain.

The envy for another’s wealth
Brings happiness to none.
All meaningless it seems to be
The evil ‘neath the sun.

Yet Christ ordained life’s every woe.
Though we can’t clearly see,
His purposes are just and right.
To trust him sets us free.
