Healing Rain
Lay down your heart and trust in Christ,
His mighty love protects the weak,
And rain of healing washes down,
Among the lost, the poor, the meek.
All see and come exalt His reign;
The universe lays out His gown.
Each star is radiant to Him,
Like jewels prized upon His crown.
The Artist shaped a perfect land,
Yet man has spit upon His face.
What rights have we to cast our spew
As unclean men blessed in Gods grace?
Now glimpse the King of peace above,
He dances in the streets of gold,
His bride is dancing nearby Him,
And shouts, “the King of all behold!”

From the Author:
When my English teacher, Mr. Bond, told me about this
contest I was excited to write a song. Yet with so many ideas in my head I had
no idea where to start. Then on Friday night my family brought me to a homeless
feed under a bridge in Tacoma. Many times I caught myself seeing the rags and
cigarettes of the homeless people, instead of what was good and true about them.
When we arrived home I went upstairs and my attitude toward them began to bother
me, so I prayed about it. Then the next Friday night when I was at the homeless
feed under the bridge He showed me something. For the first time I saw the
similarity between me and them; we were both made in Gods image. It was then
that I realized that their breath was given to them by the very same person who
gave me breath.
Healing Rain is about the love which Christ gives to everyone, including the
poor, the meek, and the lost. To each one He sends His healing rain of love
which cleanses, forgives, and promises eternal life.
Thank you for taking the time to read it,
In Christ,
