Beside a Brook
I found myself beside a
brook,
Two narrow roads beneath my feet:
Prevailing, potent, pure God, then
Deceitful demon dressed discreet.
I took the path with hazy end,
A life toward hope and majesty?
Now clear before my somber eyes,
Christ’s crimson blood He spilt for me!
The sun shone bright, path left, and right,
Christ’s glare on pebbles smooth and scratched,
Like each effect from any choice,
The probe to travel both dispatched.
The love from mighty God above,
Is now my path, my chief desire,
To see the King of kings on high,
Oh, Lord of lords cease Satan’s fire!
