O Hero, David

In the valley of Elah, the mightily high,
wicked Saul and the Israelites slowly drew nigh.
The young David, a shepherd stood fearlessly here,
as the clamor of battle progressed quickly near.

All the Philistines occupied one hill, they could.
The great giant, Goliath, unmovingly stood.
In the valley between the two armies this clay.
And Goliath now shouted, the troops were afraid.

So then Jesse spoke firmly to David, his son.
For from fighting Goliath, the soldiers would run.
A line then was drawn between Israel and foes.
They began fighting against one another with blows.

When Goliath was no longer living, he fell.
And young David without a sword won the battle.
O, the philistines turned and they all ran away.
Shepherd David, brave hero seized vict'ry that clay.
