God's people did cry for kings
To save them from all earthly things.
And for an answer to their pleas
He sent them kings to rule with ease.

Though moral kings did praise the Lord,
The crime of man is to self horde.
With sin and Satan thrashing out,
Man needs a light to save their doubt.

Only the Christ the King of all
Can vanquish evil from the fall.
Though death's dark shadow covets thieves,
God's light will guard those who believe.

The kings of earth have fought so well,
But could they beat earth's sin from hell?
The shield of virtue comes from God
Who sent His Son the world abroad.
